Best Western Guidepost Hotel Corporate Social Responsibility Policy
Here at the Best Western Guide Post Hotel we are fully aware of our responsibility towards the environment. We are continuously working towards new initiatives and developing our performance to help offset its current Carbon Footprint.
The current practices we use are:
- Recycling cardboard
- Paper/card reused for Administrative purposes, such as message taking and notes
- Glass bottles recycled
- TV’s in bedrooms turned off, rather than being left on stand-by
- Bedding is changed every other day for stop-overs of more than one night
- Bed linen and towel usage is reduced by placing guest signage in each room giving the guest the option of having their towels changed or not.
- Local, fresh produce used where possible to reduce haulage and transport costs
- Kitchen cooking oil sent for recycling
- Designated Disabled parking space at the front of the Hotel
- One designated Disabled access bedroom
- Public Disabled Toilet and baby changing facilities
- Assistance dogs welcome
- Ground floor access to Restaurant and Bar, and one function room
- Ground floor bedrooms
- Light bulbs being replaced with low energy bulbs as existing stocks expire
- Soap dispensers in Public Toilets to reduce waste
- We participate in the Work Experience scheme for schools and colleges, for which we have a certificate for.
- Items being donated to Charity, rather than being sent to landfill, e.g. TV’s, blankets
- Refurbishment’s to have flow rate restriction to reduce consumption
- Provide newspapers upon request to avoid wastage and recycle any spares
- Monitor water/gas/electricity consumption
- Bulk purchase of chemicals
- We have changed laundry suppliers to reduce the number of deliveries and collections the Hotel have.
- We have an onsite Garbage Compactor for the general waste.
- We provide information about local transport services to our Guests as they need it, reducing printing costs.
- We promote the local Golf Course & Gym facilities, and they do the same for us.
We aim to continue our efforts in order to maintain the Green Tourism standards, and periodically review our practices to ensure that everything possible is being done in the best way.
